'Gunnersbury House, the Seat of Princess Amelia'. Gunnersbury House is a Palladian mansion designed in the mid 17th century by John Webb, son-in-law and pupil of Inigo Jones. It was built for Sir John Maynard, a lawyer and politician. The house was acquired in 1760 for Princess Amelia, the second daughter of King George II.
