'Eurydice in Hell', early 17th century. According to Greek Mythology, Eurydice was an oak nymph and the wife of Orpheus. She died after stepping on a venomous snake while fleeing a satyr, after which Orpheus tried to retrieve her from the Underworld. Found in the collection of the State A Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow.
