British politician and statesman Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965) and his wife Clementine listen to the official declaration after he won the seat of Epping in Essex. He had stood as a Constitutionalist in the General Election, and was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer in Baldwin's Conservative government.
