Cetshwayo, King of the Zulus, in captivity, South Africa, 1879. Cetshwayo (c1826-1884), the last king of an independent Zulu nation, dressed in European clothes, being brought to a prison in Cape town. He was captured by the British at the end of the Zulu War in 1879 and transported to London, where he remained in exile until 1883.
