Cast of westernmost slab of riders from North frieze of Parthenon (figures 132-136, Slab XLVII =Michaelis XLII), 19th century. The cast is of the last slab of the north frieze of the Parthenon and shows a rank leader and dressing rider. The original slab, (47 Jenkins, 42 Michaelis), is now in the British Museum. It was purchased from Lord Elgin in 1816. The top left corner of the panel has since been located in Athens. The Royal Academy acquired twenty major casts of the Parthenon frieze between 1817 and 1869. The majority are of slabs of the north frieze and were displayed in the Schools until 2005.
