Cast of two sides of an Asiatic composite capital, late 18th century-early 19th century. Cast of two sides of a composite capital with two distinguishing details. Firstly it has only one row of tall leaves, and secondly there are no rosettes in the space above the leaves but instead more foliage. These are characteristics that are associated with carving in Asia Minor in the second century AD/CE. The cast was from the collection of Thomas Lawrence which was sold on 10 May 1830.
