Cast of slab of riders from North frieze of Parthenon (figures 116-117, Slab XLII =Michaelis XXXVII), 19th century. The cast shows riders (figures 116-118). The original slab, (42 Jenkins, 37 Michaelis), is now in the British Museum. It was purchased from Lord Elgin in 1816. The top left corner of the panel has since been located in Athens. The Royal Academy acquired twenty major casts of the Parthenon frieze between 1817 and 1869. The majority are of slabs of the north frieze and were displayed in the Schools until 2005.
