Cast of marshal from East frieze of Parthenon (figure 48 of Slab VI), 19th century. Cast of a young man facing the procession. The Parthenon Frieze, a marble sculpture created to adorn the upper part of the Parthenon's naos, was made between c443 and 437 BCE, most likely under the direction of Phidias. This portion of the original slab is now in the British Museum.
