Cast of coffer from central passageway, late 18th or early 19th century. Cast reproducing a coffer in the ceiling of the central passageway of the Arch of Septimius Severus (AD/CE 203) in the Roman Forum. A large central flower is framed by acanthus leaf and then bead-and-reel mouldings. The cast was from Thomas Lawrence's collection which was sold on 10 May 1830.
