'Capture of Ting-hai, Chusan', China, 1841 (19th century). From a sketch on the spot, by Lieutenant White, Royal Marines. The Chinese city of Zhousan was captured by the British in 1840 and 1841 during the First Opium War and again in 1860 in the Second Opium War.
