Camel-carriage used by the Lieutenant-Governor of the Punjaub, [India], 1864. Engraving from a photograph by 'Messrs. Howard, Shepherd, and Bourne, of Calcutta, taken at Government House, Lahore...[It] represents the camel-carriage in the possession of Sir Robert Montgomery, the Lieutenant-Governor of the Punjaub. As a means of travelling over the sandy plains that exist in the Punjaub, and particularly along the frontier of that province, where good roads are scarce, carriages drawn by camels are found to be of great service.
