British Royal Horse Artillery rocket troop, 19th century. In 1815 at the Battle of Waterloo, Major Edward Charles Whinyates' rocket troop were attached to the Cavalry Corps, and equipped with both rockets and cannon. Accounts of the effectiveness of their rockets vary, but they were regarded as an irritant by the French.
