Boer prisoners under escort, 2nd Boer War, 1900. After Paardeberg, one of the bloodiest battles in the 2nd Boer War (1899-1902), fought in February 1900, many Boer officers and leaders, including General Piet Cronje, were taken prisoner. This images shows them being taken to the coast under escort prior to deportation.
