Benedictine monastery of Vézelay, in Burgundy, France, 1446-1448, (1877). The monk Baudillon brought relics of Mary Magdalene from Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume to Vézelay. Pope Stephen IX proclaimed the authenticity of the relics in 1058. Legendary bearing by Baudillon and the Carolingian Count Gerard de Roussillon (810-874), who had donated the land for the construction of the monastery. After a miniature in "Chroniques de Hainaut", 1446-1448. From "Vie Militaire et Religieuse au Moyen Age et à l'Epoque de la Renaissance", Paris, 1877.
