'An Extra Liberal Dose', 1885. The Conservative, Arthur Balfour, offers a pauper a tonic that he has prepared. In the background, the Liberal MP Joseph Chamberlain claims that it was in fact his prescription that is being handed out. The reference to Radicals relates to the group of MPs within the Liberal Party who had often caused the former administration embarrassment by their opposition to the government agenda. From Punch, or the London Charivari, July 25, 1885.
