'A Temple Macaroni', 1772; an exquisite with a waist-length pigtail and a simpering expression minces along while a dog, also with a long tail, trots along beside him. Possibly a reference to Richard Grenville-Temple, first Earl Temple. A macaroni was an eighteenth century British dandy who affected continental fashions.
