A street tea-seller, Moscow, 1874. Food and hot drinks for sale on a winter's evening. 'The street scene at Moscow may be commended to imitation, under the patronage of our temperance societies, whose cause would be furthered by promoting the cheap and ready provision of a refreshing cup of tea, instead of beer or ardent spirits, at all hours of the day, from bar or stall. The Russian tea of prime quality is brought overland through Siberia from China. It is usually drunk without milk or sugar, but with a slice of lemon, and is said to be very nice when the taste has become accustomed to it'. From "Illustrated London News", 1874.
