Model for Jubilee Medal, 1887. The Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887 marked the 50th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the British throne on 20 June 1837. On the reverse of the medal, Victoria enthroned, with sword and sceptre, is flanked with figures representing Science, Letters, Art, Industry and Agriculture, with Mercury and Time [?] reclining in the foreground. Below are shields inscribed: Africa, America, Europe, Australasia and Asia.
