Wallenstein at the Battle of Lützen, early 19th century. The Battle of Lützen, fought on 16 November 1632, was one of the most important of the Thirty Years' War. A Swedish army under Gustavus Adolphus narrowly defeated an Imperial force under Albrecht von Wallenstein, supreme commander of the armies of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II.
