Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871): "Battle of Havana" (9 November 1870), 1870. Engagement between the Prussian gunboat "Meteor" and the French aviso "Bouvet", nine miles off the coast of Havana (Cuba), outside territorial water. The Spanish gunboat "Centinela" intervened on observing the considerable damage being caused, and that the French warship was being pursued by the Prussian gunboat.
