It was built between 1823-1836 after the designs of the architect John Haviland, (1792-1852) and opened in an unfinished state in 1829. From "Panorama Universal. History of the United States of America", from 1st edition of Jean B.G. Roux de Rochelle's "Etats-Unis d'Amérique" in 1837. Spanish edition, printed in Barcelona, 1850. (Colorised black and white print).
