First Carlist War, (1833-1840): Battle of Alsasua, April 22, 1834, (1842). Zumalacárregui attacked a liberal convoy in Alsasua that was on its way from Vitoria to Pamplona, escorted by General Quesada's troops. The Cristinos were defeated, losing the convoy and suffering a large number of casualties, wounded and prisoners, among them the commander of the Royal Guard, Leopoldo O'Donnell.
