The Miser from "The Dance of Death", 1538, (1877). Depiction of a rich man who has locked himself in a room with barred windows. Coins, chests and bags of money all around him. A skeleton is trying to take coins from the table, being rebuked by the man who does not seem to be afraid of it. Facsimile of an engraving belonging to the series "The Dance of Death" by Hans Holbein the Younger, in "Les Simulachres et Histoires facées de la Mort", 1538. From "Vie Militaire et Religieuse au Moyen Age et à l'Epoque de la Renaissance", Paris, 1877.
