Scafell Hotel, Lake District, c1955. Guests outside the hotel in Rosthwaite, Cumbria. Originally built in the early 19th century as a private residence for artist Mary Barker, the property later became a well-known coaching inn and hotel. Sir Barnes Wallis, the engineer and inventor, was a regular guest at the hotel, visiting for over 52 years.
