Big Ben, London, c1955. Clock tower at the Palace of Westminster, designed by Augustus Pugin and Sir Charles Barry and completed in 1859. Originally known as the Clock Tower (but also referred to as St Stephen's Tower), the structure was renamed the Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Bell inside the tower.
