Sir Nevile Bland, King of Arms of the Order of St Michael and St George, c1953. The Order of St Michael and St George is an English order of chivalry founded in 1818 by George, Prince Regent (later King George IV). It is sixth in seniority amongst the orders in the British honours system. Sir Nevile Bland held the office of King of Arms of the order from 1952 until 1962. In this capacity he participated in the ceremony of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
