Detail of the Gold State Coach at the time of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, 1953. The Coach had just undergone three years of extensive restoration. The Coach is an enclosed, eight-horse-drawn carriage used by the British royal family. It was commissioned in 1760 for King George III, and was designed by Sir William Chambers.
