In Clubland - No. V: the Travellers' Club..., 1898. 'The Morning Room; the Secretary's Sanctum; in the Billiard Room: a game of pool; A Weighty Corner. No. 106, Pall Mall, better known as the Travellers' Club, is the home of one of the most popular and distinguished societies of Clubland...The Travellers' Club originated soon after the peace of 1814. To be precise, the year of its birth was 1819...On the first floor the principal apartments are the Morning-room, which looks to Pall Mall. Behind this is the House Dining-room, and at the back, fronting Carlton Terrace, is the Coffee-room, which occupies the whole length of the house. Above the Morning-room is the Drawing-room, with the Card-room opening off it; some smaller apartments occupy the space corresponding to the Dining-room, while the entire area above the Coffee-room is devoted to the Library.'
