Pattisons' Whisky Competition, 1898. '50 PRIZES - "The Opening of the Case." Drawn by Harry Furniss. WHO ARE THEY? Nearly every figure depicted in this crowded Court is a portrait of some celebrity in Society, Law, Politics, Art, or the Theatrical World. Mr. Harry Furniss has given Messrs. Pattisons, Ltd., a correct key to the portraits, and in order that everyone may have an opportunity of endorsing the opinion arrived at by the Judge and Jury, that PATTISONS' WHISKY IS SCOTLAND'S BEST, the proprietors will present a Case containing one dozen of PATTISON'S Royal Gordon "Perfection" Fifteen Years Old Whisky to the senders of the 50 best lists stating Who's Who! Conditions - The names of the celebrities are to be legibly written on a sheet of foolscap or other paper and numbered. Corresponding numbers to be marked on each figure in the picture, which is to be cut out and forwarded with the list, not later than 7th May, addressed to "Competition", Messrs. Pattisons, Ltd., Consitution Street, Leith. Only one list to be sent in by each competitor...A correct list of the celebrities will be given in the Daily Graphic...A SPECIAL PRIZE of FIVE Cases of Pattisons' Whisky will be awarded to the competitor whose list is considered the best sent in'.
