Ladies' Page: a Princesse dress, 1898. 'Soft, light-coloured plain cloths seem to obtain more with the feminine fancy than the more elaborate fancy materials this spring, and a very graceful example of the forthcoming Princesse style is given here, made in a dull olive-brown shade with borderings of dark brown otter outside narrow lines of black braid. The yoke is a feature, being of ivory satin, on which a chenille embroidery of variously coloured small flowers is exquisitely wrought. The ruches of chiffon of a hat of wavy satin straw in black repeat these pale colourings most satisfactorily'. From "Illustrated London News", 1898.
