Punjab Frontier Force Challenge Trophy, 1895. 'This handsome trophy was instituted by the Punjab Frontier Force, and is offered annually for competition among the regiments and batteries belonging to the force. These number twelve regiments of infantry, five of cavalry, and three or four batteries of artillery. The first tournament was held last spring at Dera-Ismail-Khan, and the victorious team was the Queen's Own Corps of Guides, one of the strongest teams of the year in India. A plate on the pedestal records the names of the winning team, these being Captain G. J. Younghusband, Captain G. B. Hodson, Lieutenant F. N. Davies, and Captain R. G. Egerton. The trophy will form a very handsome addition to the mess plate of the regiment which has the good fortune to win it annually. It is the handiwork of the Goldsmiths' and Silversmiths' Company, 112, Regent Street, W.' From "Illustrated London News", 1895.
