The Queen of Siam, 1895. 'The royal family in Siam has sustained a severe bereavement by the death, on Jan. 4, of the Crown Prince, who succumbed to complicated kidney disease...all the English colony in Bangkok share the widespread regret occasioned by his death. Illness supervened about Dec. 24 last, and although European and Siamese physicians did all that lay in their power, it became evident that the Crown Prince's life could not be saved'. Savang Vadhana (1862-1955), also known as Sri Savarindira, was half-sister and queen consort of King Chulalongkorn, and mother of Crown Prince Maha Vajirunhis. From "Illustrated London News", 1895.
