The marble statue depicting Alfred the Great, Saxon king of Wessex at the age of twenty one and first King of England, Market Place, Wantage, Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, 1895. He is said to have been born in Wantage in 849 AD. The statue was presented to the town by Colonel Sir Robert Loyd-Lindsay in 1877.
