Actor In a Blue And White Patterned Robe, 1859. One of a series of ten prints which depict contemporary popular actors. The role of the actor is 'Ukiyo Inosuke'. The actor wears informal cotton kimono, or Yukata, for the summer season and holds a towel. Each series has different patterns of three colours gradation with actor's crest in the background. The pattern of three square box in the middle gradation suggests that the actor is from Ichikawa family, the biggest actor's family in Japan.
