First Carlist War, (1833-1840). Don Carlos sailing to France, 1842. Brighton to Dieppe sailing, the city from which he travelled to Paris. Civil war that confronted Carlists, supporters of the Infante Carlos María Isidro de Borbón, against the Isabelinos (Elizabethans), defenders of Isabel II and the regent María Cristina de Borbón. Carlos María Isidro settled in London after fleeing Portugal due to the harassment of the liberal general Rodil. Despite being under surveillance, he reached France in July 1834 and joined Tomás Zumalacárregui's troops in Navarre. Panorama Español, Cronica Contemporánea. Madrid, 1842.
