First Carlist War, (1833-1840): Anti-clerical riots of 1835, (1845). Anti-clerical riots of 1835. Revolts against the religious orders that took place as a result of their support for the Carlist side. "Bullanga" of Barcelona (25 July 1835). Violent protest in the El Torín bullring in Barceloneta. During the bullfighting performance, protests against the poor quality of the bulls led to a violent reaction, first in the bullring and later in the streets of the city. In the bleachers there were two rival bullfighting groups, some supporters of the Carlists and the other of the Liberals. After the fifth bull, the crowd jumped into the bullring, tied the bull by the horns and dragged it out of the bullring while they caused all kinds of damage to the arena. The bull was then carried through the streets to the Ramblas. Then they burned down several convents. From "Panorama Español, Crónica Contemporánea", Volume III, Madrid, 1845
