Rafael Maroto (1783-1847), Spanish military who fought on the Carlist faction during the First Carlist War (1833-1840), 1869. Detail. Maroto joined the troops of the pretender Carlos V (Carlos María Isidro de Borbón) in the First Carlist War. Together with Espartero, he starred in the Embrace of Vergara (August 31, 1839) which ended the conflict.
