The Aragonese, on the island of Djerba, seizing the Tunisian king's camp, 1890. North African expeditions of Alfonso the Magnanimous between 1424 and 1433. Expedition to Tunisia. The military contingent led by King Alfonso V the Magnanimous (1396-1458) arrived on the island of Djerba on 15 August 1432. On 1 September, the Aragonese troops were attacked by the Tunisians, provoking a battle between the two sides. The Aragonese were able to take control of the Tunisian camp and the king fled.
