The Luther Celebration: cast of Luther's face, taken after his death when laid in state in St. Mary's Church, Halle, 1883. 'On the road from Eisleben to Wittenberg, the bearers of Luther's [1483-1546] mortal remains are reported to have stopped one night at Halle, where the body was laid in state, in St. Mary's Church.
