Portrait of Francisco Javier de Istúriz Montero (1790-1871), Spanish politician and diplomat, 1845. He took part in the Peninsular War. Conspired for liberalism during the Absolutist Sexennium period and had to take refuge in Gibraltar. One of the main inspirers of the pronouncement of Cabezas de San Juan that led to the Liberal Triennium (1820-1823). Elected deputy in the first Courts of the Triennium following the elections of March 1820. President of the Council of Ministers for four months in 1836.
