Repression after the fall of the Paris Commune, Paris, France, 1871. Popular revolutionary movement that took power in Paris from 18 March to 28 May 1871, as a result of the Franco-Prussian War. The Communards were imprisoned on pontoons, in iron cages built for the purpose on decommissioned or out-of-service warships.
