Portrait of Charles de France (1686-1714), 1st half of 18th century. Additional Info: The man, represented in half-length view, wearing armour covered with a blue cloak lined with ermine, with a white wig à la lion on his head, is supporting his right hand, in a glove, on a helmet standing on a table. The Order of the Holy Spirit is suspended on a blue ribbon running diagonally across his breast. A landscape in the background. The portrait was believed to represent King Louis XV of France. However, the later research pointed out that it depicts Charles of France, Duke of Berry (1686-1714). He was the youngest son of Louis, Dauphin of France, "Le Grand Dauphin," and of Maria Anna Victoria of Bavaria, as well as the grandson of King Louis XIV of France.
