Portrait of Michal Balucki, c1890. Polish novelist and comedy writer, art critic, publicist. He edited magazines for women Niewiasta and Kalina. He cooperated with the press, writing columns in which he ridiculed the vices of society. He became famous for his comedies: The Hunt for My Husband, Big Fish, The Bachelor's House. At the end of the century, his comedies lost their popularity. Balucki, attacked by Young Poland writers, especially aggressively by Lucjan Rydel, committed suicide in Kraków's Blonia.
