Mythological Scene with Hermes (Hermes Stealing the Apollo's Herd?)-Fragment of a Cassone, end of 14th century. Additional Info: One of Zeus' numerous love affairs. Upon his order, Mercury killed the hundred-eyed Argus and abducted the white cow watched over by him, into which Hera (in a blue dress) had turned the nymph Io, one of her husband's lovers. Ovid described this episode his "Metamorphoses" (1, 88-600).
