Mr. Stuart Rendel, M.P. for Montgomeryshire, mover of the address in the House of Commons, 1881. 'At the opening of the Session of Parliament, on Thursday last, the Address of the House of Commons, in reply to the Queen's Speech, was moved by Mr. Stuart Rendel...[He] is a younger son of the late eminent engineer, Mr. James Meadows Rendel. He was educated at Eton, and at Oriel College, Oxford, where he graduated B.A. in 1856, and was fourth class in classics. In June, 1861, he was called to the Bar at the Inner Temple, but did not practise, having joined the great engineering firm of Sir William Armstrong and Co., of Elswick, Newcastle, and of London'.
