George Stephenson Centenary at Newcastle-on-Tyne: procession of draught horses, waggons, etc, 1881. '...a monster procession of draught horses, gaily caparisoned, with carts and lorries, and prizes were awarded for those best groomed and most tastefully decorated. Prizes were also given by the Mayor for the best decorated locomotive engine in the procession from the central railway station'.
