'Captain Alexander Lawrence Falls, of the 21st Regiment (Royal Scots Fusiliers), who is reported to have been killed in action at Potchefstroom, obtained his first commission in the Army Dec. 18,1867; became a Lieutenant (by purchase) May 10, 1871; and a Captain Nov. 12, 1878. He served with his regiment in the Zulu war of 1879, and in the operations against Sekukuni, including the storming of Sekukuni's stronghold'. From "Illustrated London News", 1881.
