Statue of the late Mr. Bolckow, 1881. 'The Middlesbrough statue of Mr. H. W. F. Bolckow, one of the two founders of the Cleveland iron trade...is the work of Mr. D. W. Stevenson, A.R.S.A., of Edinburgh. It is nearly 10 ft. high, and was cast in bronze at the statue foundry of Sir John Steell, R.S.A., of Edinburgh. It stands on a pedestal of red granite, from the Aberdeen Granite Works of Messrs. A. Macdonald, Field, and Co'. Henry William Ferdinand Bolckow, originally Heinrich Wilhelm Ferdinand Bölckow, 1806-1878) was a Victorian industrialist and Member of Parliament, acknowledged as being one of the founders of modern Middlesbrough.
