Journey of the emperors of Germany to the Holy Land: Arrival at Venice, Italy, October 13, 1898. Humberto I of Italy (1844-1900) and Margherita of Savoy (1851-1926) entertain Wilhelm II of Germany (1859-1949) and Augusta Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein (1858-1921). The image represents the German and Italian sovereigns leaving the railway station to embark on the court gondola, which took them along the Grand Canal to the Doge's Palace.
