Death of Queen Maria de las Mercedes, Madrid, Spain, 1878. Moving the Queen's corpse from the Royal Palace to the Northern Railway Station, to be conducted to the Monastery of El Escorial. Passage of the funeral procession along Bailén Street. Mercedes of Orléans (1860-1878) died aged just 18, shortly after her wedding to King Alphonso XII, as a result of typhoid fever.
